Our cultural day on Tuesday was a big success. We began the day with a special Waitangi Day prayer service. Our children with Maori ancestry had a special part to play in welcoming all of our students into the Learning Centre for the prayer service. We acknowledged the important role Maori have in Aotearoa New Zealand as its first inhabitants. We also talked about the Treaty of Waitangi and how it is honoured today.
After the prayers we gathered students from every culture in our school to get them to talk about their cultural dress. It is amazing to see how many cultures make up our school.
At lunchtime we were very lucky to share all sorts of amazing foods with each other. My thanks go to all of you who put so much effort into baking and cooking such delicious food. Some parents and caregivers had obviously spent a lot of time preparing and making the food. This is fantastic and much appreciated as I know how busy your lives are.
We finished the afternoon with class interchange with the students doing various activities in each class and rotating every 15 minutes. Once again, a huge thank you for all your help which made the day so successful.
